Happy hump day, Florida State fans. It looks to be a relatively heavy one, but we’ll update you on the latest in FSU athletics by updating the news and notes section as the day goes on.

Lead Story

On Monday, Florida State learned that baseball pitcher Tyler Holton was the ACC’s Pitcher of the Week for a second week in a row. On Tuesday, softball’s Jessica Burroughs took home the same honor for the second time this season.

Burroughs, a redshirt senior, was named ACC Pitcher of the Week for a second time in three weeks after tossing a pair of 1-hitters against Georgia Tech over the weekend. Burroughs was an All-ACC pitcher last season and seems to be picking up where she left off.

For the season, Burroughs is 9-1 with a stellar 0.86 ERA. She has also registered 80 strikeouts in just 57 innings of work.

Between the Lines

FSU baseball scored three runs in the fifth inning to top UCF on Tuesday, 5-2.

On the Agenda

FSU baseball will again play UCF. The FSU softball team will play a doubleheader against North Florida.

News and Notes

4-star cornerback Asante Samuel, Jr. announced his top five schools on Wednesday night and FSU made the cut, along with Alabama, LSU, Miami and Ohio State.

FSU will play the winner of Wednesday’s contest between Wake Forest and Virginia Tech in the quarterfinal of the ACC Tournament on Thursday.

FSU defeated UCF on the diamond Wednesday, 5-0.
