Thank God it’s Friday, Florida State fans. We’ll do what we need to do to keep you up on the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s women’s basketball team did on Thursday night what the men couldn’t do the night before — beat Georgia Tech. It was a close game throughout, but the Seminoles ultimately prevailed, 69-63.

With 8:38 to play in the game, the Yellow Jackets took their first lead on a layup by Zaire O’Neil. FSU however, would respond with an 11-2 run spearheaded by six point from Chatrice White to take control of the game.

Shakayla Thomas scored 17 points to lead FSU while Imani Wright and Ivey Slaughter added 14 and 11, respectively. Georgia Tech’s Kaylan Pugh led all scorers with 23 points. O’Neil added 12 in the loss.

The win for FSU was its 20th for the season and seventh straight. The Seminoles will have a week to wait before playing at Boston College next Thursday.

Between the Lines

The FSU women’s basketball game was the only scheduled athletic event.

On the Agenda

The FSU track and field teams will partake in the Bob Pollock Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina.

FSU will open spring baseball practice on Friday.
