Bowl Projections: FSU Unanimously Picked to Head to Orlando

With only one game remaining in the regular season, experts have No. 15 Florida State ending its 2016 campaign at the same place it began — Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

The disagreement comes on whether the Seminoles will play in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Dec. 28 or the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

Both Jason Kirk of SB Nation and Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report have FSU taking on West Virginia in the Russell Athletic Bowl. It would be the third bowl meeting between the schools in 13 years. The Seminoles beat the Mountaineers in the Gator Bowl to conclude the 2004 and 2009 seasons.

Most prognosticators are picking the Seminoles to wind up in the Citrus Bowl. Both Brett McMurphy of ESPN and Stewart Mandel of FOX Sports have FSU taking on Texas A&M for the first time since 1998. The Seminoles topped the Aggies 23-14 in the Kickoff Classic that year in East Rutherford. FSU also beat Texas A&M 10-2 in the Cotton Bowl at the conclusion of the 1991 season.

Steve Lassan of Athlon Sports, Colin Brecht of Sports Illustrated, Bill Bender of Sporting News, Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, Brad Crawford of 247Sports, Erick Smith of USA Today and Mark Schlabach of ESPN all have FSU playing a Citrus Bowl rematch of a previous national championship.

Bender, Palm and Crawford have the Seminoles facing Tennessee in a rematch of the 1998 title game decided in the Fiesta Bowl. Lassan, Brecht, Smith and Schlabach have FSU pitted against Auburn in a rematch of the 2014 BCS National Championship for the 2013 title. FSU lost to Tennessee 23-16, but beat Auburn, 34-31.

Bowl pairings will be announced Dec. 4. Florida State will conclude the regular season this Saturday against rival Florida at 8 p.m. EST.
