Head coach Jimbo Fisher and Florida State already have two safeties committed for 2017, but that doesn’t mean the Seminoles aren’t interested in adding a third.

On Friday, 4-star prospect C.J. Avery released his top 5 schools and the Seminoles made the cut. FSU was joined by ACC foes Clemson and Louisville along with his two big in-state schools, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Avery is listed at the 209th best overall player in the country and the 19th best player at his position. Avery, a 6-1 and 195-pound safety out of Grenada, Mississippi is also listed as the fifth best player in the state.

The two aforementioned safeties already committed to Florida State are Daytona Beach Mainland star Cyrus Fagan and Daniel Wright, a Fort Lauderdale prospect playing at Boyd Anderson High School. Like Avery, both are 4-star prospects.

The Seminoles currently have the No. 10 overall class for 2017 and the second-best class in the ACC behind rival Miami. Offensive lineman Ethan Frith, now a redshirt sophomore, is the last high school player from Mississippi to sign with the Seminoles.
