Florida State again fell behind early on Sunday, but the Seminoles scored runs in three consecutive innings to pull past Duke, avoid the sweep and snap a 4-game skid, 4-3.

John Sansone’s RBI double in the sixth broke a 3-3 tie and ultimately delivered FSU on Sunday. Jim Voyles earned the win in his first appearance since taking a line drive off the head in April to improve to 6-0. Tyler Warmoth put his struggles behind him to earn the save.

The Good: The biggest good for Florida State on Sunday was ending the skid, but the Seminoles did a lot of things well. The FSU bullpen allowed just a run on one hit in 5 1/3 innings of relief. FSU also pounded out a series-high 12 hits in the win.

The Bad: It wasn’t the worst defensive showing in the world, but FSU and Duke each gave up unearned runs. Second baseman Matt Henderson committed an error for the Seminoles while Duke committed two including a throwing error by Zack Kone in thesixth which allowed Taylor Walls to advance to second base. Walls would come around to score the winning run later in the inning.

The Ugly: What had been an issue for Florida State was Duke’s problem on Sunday. With runners on base, the Blue Devils went just 1-for-14, including just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Studs of the Game: Taylor Walls, Ben DeLuzio and Dylan Busby all had two hits and an RBI for FSU in Sunday’s victory. Walls also scored twice. John Sansone was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI in the win. Duke leadoff man Jimmy Herron was 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Duds of the Game: In addition to committing an error at second, Matt Henderson was 0-for-4 for the Seminoles. Zack Kone, Chris Proctor and Max Miller were all hitless in four at-bats for the Blue Devils.
