The Daily Nole — April 1, 2018: Michigan, Villanova to Play for National Championship

Lead Story

The pairing is set for college basketball’s national championship.

Monday’s title game will feature the East Region’s No. 1 seed Villanova and Michigan, the third seed from the West Region. The two teams advanced to the final with wins in the Final Four in San Antonio on Saturday night.

One game after topping Florida State in the Elite Eight, Michigan defeated Loyola-Illinois, 69-57. In a match-up of No. 1 seeds, the Wildcats topped Kansas, 95-79.

Between the Lines

FSU track and field wrapped up the Pepsi Florida Relays and a meet in Austin on Saturday. FSU beach volleyball notched a 5-0 win over Florida International and 4-1 over Grand Canyon. FSU women’s tennis topped Virginia, 5-2. FSU softball collected a 4-2 win over Georgia Tech. FSU baseball fell to Louisville to wrap up a 3-game series, 6-1.
