Mike Olivella/FSU athletics

It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. As you wrap up your weekend, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. We’ll update the news and notes section of this post throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State guard Braian Angola was one of three seniors honored before the regular season finale against Boston College on Saturday, but for Angola, the pregame ceremony wound up being extra special.

Unknowing to the FSU senior, Angola’s mother flew in from Colombia to watch her son play what looks to be his final game in Tallahassee. Angola was emotional when he realized that his mother was in attendance.

Angola proceeded to score 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting and dish out four assists in an 85-76 win over the Eagles. FSU will be the No. 8 seed in the ACC Tournament and kick things off on Wednesday against ninth-seeded Louisville.

Between the Lines

In addition to FSU basketball, FSU beach volleyball continued the FSU Invitational on Saturday with a 5-0 win over College of Charleston and a 4-1 win over Stetson. FSU women’s hoops was defeated by Notre Dame in the ACC Tournament semifinals, 90-80. FSU softball continued the Unconquered Invitational with a 6-2 win over Florida Gulf Coast and a 5-0 win over Hofstra. FSU baseball defeated UNC-Asheville with a walk-off single by Drew Mendoza in the ninth inning, 4-3.

On the Agenda

FSU women’s tennis will host Pittsburgh on Sunday. FSU softball wraps up the Unconquered Invitational against Oregon. FSU men’s golf opens the Querencia Cabo Collegiate. FSU baseball wraps up a 3-game series with UNC-Asheville at 1 p.m. EST. The baseball game will air on ACC Network Extra.

News and Notes

Each of the two games scheduled for FSU’s baseball series with Kansas have been moved up a day. The Seminoles host the Jayhawks on Monday and Tuesday rather than Tuesday and Wednesday.

FSU was among the top 8 schools listed for 4-star receiver Jalen Curry.

FSU defeated UNC-Asheville on Sunday, 4-2, to complete a 3-game sweep.
