Lead Story

The season may be over and Florida State safety Derwin James may be focused on the draft, but a major college award could still be in his future.

According to a release, James is among 21 semifinalists for the Lombari Award. That honor is presented based on “performance, leadership, character and resiliency”.

James finished this past season with 84 total tackles, including 5.5 for loss, one sack, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown. As many as seven finalists for the award will be announced on Jan. 22. The winner will be presented the Lomardi Award during a presentation on Jan. 27 in Houston.

Between the Lines

FSU basketball fell at Boston College on Monday night, 81-75.

On the Agenda

There are no FSU athletic events scheduled for Tuesday.

News and Notes

FSU’s Derwin James was the highest rated safety, according to Pro Football Focus, for the second time in three years.

FSU baseball will start the year ranked No. 5 in the D1Baseball.com Poll.
