Happy hump day, Florida State fans. As you get ready to take on the day, keep it here for the latest in FSU athletics. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Big things are expected out of Florida State soccer this season both as a team and as individuals.

The Seminoles were ranked No. 4 by TopDrawerSoccer behind Penn State, Stanford and West Virginia on Tuesday. In addition to the high team expectations, goalkeeper Cassie Miller, midfielder Megan Connolly and forward Deyna Castellanos were all named to the Best XI second team. Gloriana Villalobos, a midfielder, was named to the Freshman Best XI team.

On top of that, five players found themselves in TopDrawerSoccer’s top 100 players. Connolly topped FSU players at No. 14 with Castellanos not far behind at No. 20 and Miller at No. 28. Juniors Kaycie Tillman and Natalia Kuikka ranked No. 60 and 73, respectively.

FSU opens the season on Friday against UNC-Greensboro.

3-star linebacker Rosendo Louis committed to Florida State on Tuesday night.

Florida State cornerback Tarvarus McFadden and safety Derwin James were each named preseason All-Americans by CBS Sports.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois has been named to the preseason Manning Award watch list.
