It didn’t take long for Florida State to find a replacement for Bradley Jennings Jr. The 3-star linebacker from Jacksonville and son of former FSU linebacker Bradley Jennings announced Monday that he was decommitting from the Seminoles and conventional wisdom suggests that he’ll end up in Miami.

On Tuesday, DeMarco Artis filled the void, flipping from UCF. Artis, a 6-3, 220-pound Sanford prospect, is also a 3-star linebacker recruit. Artis committed to UCF in June, but impressed at Florida State’s June camp and a scholarship offer soon followed.

What it means: The addition of Artis gives the Seminoles a body at a position they desperately needed. Linebacker is a huge question mark coming into the 2016 season and FSU had no players committed at the position for 2017, 2018 or 2019. FSU entered the day with the No. 12 overall recruiting class for 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Artis becomes the 11th member of that class.

Also of note: On Monday, Henry Ruggs III unveiled his top 5 schools and FSU was in the mix along with Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Penn State. Ruggs, a 4-star athlete out of Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, is listed as the No. 219 prospect for 2017.
