After losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, Deyna Castellanos made sure it wouldn’t happen to Florida State again.

Castellanos scored the only two goals of the match as the Seminoles advanced to the round of 16 with a 2-0 win over Arizona on Friday night in Palo Alto. Kaycie Tillman added an assist in the FSU win.

Castellanos got the scoring started late in the first half with a goal in the 44th minute. Her second and final goal of the night came in the 79th minute.

When it came to getting off shots, FSU held a 12-10 edge, but that advantage was 7-2 when it came to shots on goal. Lainey Burdett finished with five saves for the Wildcats while Cassie Miller recorded a pair of saves for the Seminoles.

With the win, FSU improves to 13-6-1. The Seminoles will advance to face either Auburn or top-regional seed Stanford on Sunday. Arizona finishes the year with a record of 11-5-4.
