Florida State gave top-seeded Stanford all it wanted in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in Palo Alto on Sunday, but in the end, the Cardinal prevailed.

After 78 minutes of scoreless soccer, Stanford’s Jordan DiBiasi scored the only goal of the match on an assist from Tierna Davidson in the 1-0 Stanford victory. The Seminoles were shut out for the fourth time this season.

Statistically, Stanford dominated the match, getting 22 shots to FSU’s four and eight shots on goal to FSU’s one. In her final match, FSU goalkeeper Cassie Miller was outstanding with seven saves, but couldn’t stop the DiBiasi shot.

Alison Jahansouz recorded one save for Stanford. Dallas Dorosy had the only shot on goal for the Seminoles.

With the loss, FSU finishes the year with a record of 13-7-1. Stanford will move on to a national quarterfinal to face Penn State.
