After coming up one win short of a second national championship in four years, Florida State softball added some firepower this week. The Seminoles welcomed in not one, but two transfers.

The first and perhaps most notable was former Illinois State 2-way player Mack Leonard. A first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference performer last season, Leonard led the Redbirds in batting average (.425), runs scored (36), doubles (8), triples (2), home runs (10), RBIs (38) and walks (26). She hit .443 as a sophomore in 2020.

Leonard also finished with an 11-4 record and 3.33 ERA last season. She finished the year with nine complete games and six shutouts.

FSU also landed former South Florida first baseman Bethany Keen. Keen batted .299 last season with two home runs and 24 RBIs.

They’ll join an FSU squad that reached the championship series of the Women’s College World Series. FSU finished 49-13-1.
