What was supposed to be Senior Day for the Florida State football program and opening week for both basketball programs turned out not to be.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, no FSU athletic contests took place this week. The most notable postponement was Saturday’s scheduled football game with Virginia.

For the second week in a row, an opponent arrived in Tallahassee expecting to play, only to learn that the contest would not take place. On Saturday, it was Virginia. The week prior, it was Clemson.

This time, it was positive tests within the FSU program. It is unknown when or whether the contest will be made up.

FSU’s men’s and women’s basketball programs were each slated to begin their seasons this past week. The men were expected to open with Gardner-Webb on Friday, but that was called after COVID concerns within the Gardner-Webb program.

The FSU women were expected to play both Florida A&M and Florida this week. Florida A&M will not move forward with spring sports while Florida had a positive test.

All three programs have contests scheduled by next Sunday.
