Your Thoughts Thursday: Florida Will Beat FSU by Multiple Scores

Florida State will look to win a fifth straight contest in Gainesville on Saturday night as the Seminoles visit No. 11 Florida.

The Gators snapped a 5-game losing streak overall to FSU last season and will come in as lofty favorites. This week, we asked our social media followers who would win the rivalry contest at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Of the 130 accounts that responded, 55 percent have Florida winning by more than one score. The next most popular answer was FSU winning by a score at 23 percent. 15 percent said the Gators will win by a score and 7 percent predict that the Seminoles will win by multiple scores.

Our Take
In this case, we’re sticking with our readers.

Interim head coach Odell Haggins will have Florida State focused and ready to play, but this is a night game in Gainesville and the Gators are simply a better team. Quarterback Kyle Trask has been ultra-efficient this season for Florida and he has a loaded group of skill players around him. On top of that, FSU is without its best defensive player in defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and hasn’t been able to generate much pressure of late.

The weakness for the FSU offense is, without question, the offensive line. Florida ranks fifth nationally with 38 sacks.

For FSU to pull the upset, it will need some breaks and big plays on special teams and defense. Offensively, FSU quarterback James Blackman will probably need to have one of the best games of his career.

It’s hard to like the Seminoles’ chances. Florida 38, FSU 17.
