In its last 14 innings, Florida State has now been outscored 36-1. The Seminoles took it on the chin against NC State in the first game of a 3-game set in Raleigh on Friday night, 16-0.

Rain delayed the game by about an hour, but neither the bats nor the arms ever seemed to get out of the FSU (13-3) dugout. NC State (18-0) on the other hand, finished with 16 runs on 16 hits, scoring early and often.

The Wolfpack blew things open with an 8-run second inning and never looked back. Patrick Bailey and Evan Edwards each homered for NC State.

Bailey was 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Brad Debo and Tyler McDonough each had three RBIs while combining for six hits and five runs scored.

Drew Parrish took the loss for FSU, although he was able to fight through a disastrous second to throw five innings. Each of the four FSU pitchers to work allowed at least two runs. NC State’s Jason Parker allowed just five hits in seven shutout innings while striking out 10 to pick up the win.

Mike Salvatore reached base three times with two of the seven FSU hits in addition to drawing a walk. The teams play again on Saturday night.
