FSU Overpowers Wake on Homecoming, 38-17

Florida State responded to an early 2-score deficit with 38 straight points in a 38-17 homecoming victory over Wake Forest at Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois finished with 353 yards passing and a pair of scoring strikes in the win. Sophomore running back Cam Akers went for a season-high 98 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Sam Hartman passed for 227 yards and two touchdowns for Wake Forest (3-4, 0-3 ACC) and gave the Demon Deacons an early 10-0 lead with a touchdown pass to Jack Freudenthal. His lone interception bounced into the hands of Stanford Samuels III to set up Jacques Patrick’s short touchdown run that put the Seminoles (4-3, 2-3 ACC) ahead for good.

Nyqwan Murray finished with eight catches for 131 yards receiving and a touchdown to lead FSU. Tre’Shaun Harrison caught his first career touchdown to conclude the Florida State scoring.

FSU will remain home to face Clemson on Saturday. Wake Forest travels to take on Louisville.
