Florida State’s opening contest of the Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay was never in doubt as the Seminoles trounced Fordham on Friday evening, 67-43.

FSU (2-0) took a 35-18 lead to the locker room and never looked back, leading by as many as 28 in the second half. The Seminoles held the Rams (1-2) to just 23 percent shooting for the night and a dismal 1-for-22 from beyond the 3-point arc.

Mfiondu Kabengele and Terance Mann each scored in double-figures for a second straight game for the Seminoles with 15 and 14 points, respectively. Mann was 7-for-9 from the field while Kabengle was an efficient 5-for-8. As a team, FSU shot 48 percent from the field.

Kabengele also led FSU with eight rebounds. The Florida State defense was anchored by its two 7-footers as Chris Koumadje and Ike Obiagu each recorded four blocks in the victory.

Senior Will Tavares was the only Fordham player to score in double-figures with a game-high 18 points. Joseph Chartouny grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. The lone lead for the Rams on the night was 3-2 with less than 18 minutes to play in the first half.

Both teams will continue their stints in Jamaica on Sunday. Fordham will take on Tulane while the Seminoles battle Colorado State.
