Jimbo Fisher Comments on Post-Game Fan Altercation

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. — Florida State (2-4) fell to Louisville (5-3) on Saturday afternoon, struggling offensively for the majority of the game. The FSU offense managed just 21 points against a Louisville defense that surrendered 45 to Boston College the week before — the most by an ACC opponent against the Eagles since 2009.

FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher was involved in a tense interaction with a fan after the final whistle. As the head coach made his way to the locker room, a supporter yelled in his direction, shouting, “New coaches! New coaches!”

Fisher uncharacteristically responded to the fan. He walked toward the individual, still in the Doak Campbell Stadium bleachers, and said, “Walk your a– down here and say it.”

Fisher was asked about the altercation in his post-game press conference.

“There’s no reason to be nasty. But at the same time defending players and people you’re with, I’m in charge of them,” Fisher said. “I shouldn’t have said something.”

Fisher also reiterated a statement he made after FSU’s loss to Miami earlier in the season. After the loss — which came in similar fashion — Fisher urged fans to “keep cheering.” His tone on Saturday was noticeably similar.

“If you’re a fan — are you going to be a loyal fan or not? Just keep fighting with us. We ain’t quitting on you. Please don’t quit on us,” Fisher said. “We’re going to keep fighting, scratching, coaching, playing, and you see the heart and desire of those kids.

“We’re going to keep coaching the same way because there’s no quit in us either. We’re right there. Got to find a way to get it.”
