All-time leading rusher Dalvin Cook may be off the NFL, but that didn’t stop his potential successor from being named to the Doak Walker Award watch list on Thursday.

Jacques Patrick, a junior, got to see his name on the list. The Doak Walker Award is named after the legendary SMU back and annually goes to the nation’s top running back.

Patrick has been the Seminoles’ second-leading rusher in each of the last two years, totaling 664 yards on the ground and nine rushing touchdowns. At nearly 230 pounds, Patrick is a big back, but has good hands and the ability to make defenders miss.

Patrick will look to become the first FSU back to win the Walker Award, which has been given every year since 1990. The award is presented by SMU.
