Florida State redshirt junior quarterback Deondre Francois earned some more preseason recognition on Wednesday as the FSU signal-caller was named to the Davey O’Brien Award.

The award presented by the Davey O’Brien Foundation has been given to the nation’s best quarterback every year since 1981.

Francois was named ACC Rookie of the Year last season after accounting for 3,350 yards passing and 25 total touchdowns. Francois also led second half comebacks in wins over Ole Miss, Miami, N.C. State and Michigan.

Francois was previously named to the Maxwell Award watch list and hopes to join FSU greats Charlie Ward, Chris Weinke and Jameis Winston among Davey O’Brien Award winners. All three won the award in their respective Heisman Trophy years of 1993, 1999 and 2013.
