A pair of redshirt sophomores will represent Florida State at ACC Kickoff, the conference’s annual media days which last from July 13 and 14 this year.

Representing the FSU offense will be quarterback and reigning ACC Rookie of the Year Deondre Francois. Francois accounted for 25 total touchdowns as a redshirt freshman a season ago while passing for 3,350 yards and leading the team to a sixth 10-win season in seven years, an Orange Bowl victory and a top-10 finish.

Safety Derwin James will represent the defense during the conference’s annual media days. James did everything for the Seminoles as a redshirt freshman in 2015, but appeared in only two games last season before going down with a meniscus tear.

James has had no shortage of preseason hype as the redshirt sophomore from Haines City has been named an All-American by several publications. As a freshman in 2015, James was among the team leaders in tackles, tackles for loss, sacks and forced fumbles.

Getting the invite to Charlotte seems to be a good omen for Francois and James. Last season, running back Dalvin Cook and defensive end DeMarcus Walker each represented the Seminoles. Both went on to be named Consensus All-Americans.

The preseason ACC media poll will be presented on July 17. The preseason All-ACC team will be unveiled on July 19.
