Florida State right-handed reliever Jim Voyles will have the chance to continue his baseball career.

Voyles was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 38th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday. Voyles goes No. 1,144 overall.

Voyles was among the nation’s top relievers as a junior in 2016 before being hit in the head with a line drive and went undrafted. Originally set to be the Seminoles’ closer in 2017, the senior campaign got off to a tough start, but improved as the year went on.

For the season, Voyles is 4-0 with a 4.36 ERA. In 36 1/3 innings of work, Voyles has struck out 39 batters, but also walked 21. Voyles is the twin brother of Ed Voyles, who is also a reliever for the Seminoles.
