Keeping legacies in Tallahassee continues to be a theme for Florida State.

On Friday night, 4-star linebacker Amari Gainer pledged his services to FSU. Gainer picked the Seminoles over Miami, Texas and Alabama. Gainer is the son of former FSU wide receiver Herb Gainer, who played for the Seminoles from 1984-87 and finished with more than 1,100 career yards receiving and 11 touchdowns.

Amari Gainer, a 6-3, 205-pound linebacker from Tallahassee, is the No. 319 overall player for 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and the No. 23 outside linebacker. Gainer could also be a candidate to play FSU’s “BUCK” position at the next level.

Gainer is the 10th member of Florida State’s 2018 class and the first linebacker to sign. Entering the day, FSU had the No. 7 overall class for 2018. With the addition of Gainer, the Seminoles move up to sixth and remain second in the ACC.
