Florida State’s 2017 regular season finale at No. 2 Louisville was called by rain before it could ever get started.

Instead of going for the 3-game sweep, the Seminoles will settle for a 2-game sweep of the Cardinals. After taking the opener on Thursday in Louisville by a 12-9 score, FSU won an 8-2 contest on Friday that was delayed by rain for about two hours.

FSU finishes the regular season a season-high 15 games over .500 at 35-20 and avoids its first losing season in ACC play, going 14-14 in conference. Florida State will remain in Louisville as that is the home of this year’s ACC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.

Under a new format that expands the field to 12 teams, FSU will be the No. 8 seed and joined in pool play by the top-seeded Cardinals and No. 12 seed Notre Dame. The Seminoles were a combined 5-0 against those teams this season.

The pairings will be set Sunday morning. Saturday’s scheduled contest is the second called by weather this season. The series finale last month with Miami was also called as a result of rain.
