Florida State will again face the opponent it defeated in the Orange Bowl to conclude the 2012 season, only this time, a little further north.

According to a report from FBSchedules.com, Northern Illinois will come to Tallahassee to face FSU on Sept. 22, 2018. According to the report, Northern Illinois will receive at least $1.6 million for the contest.

The meeting at Doak Campbell Stadium will be just the second between the Seminoles and Huskies. The first was the aforementioned Orange Bowl in which FSU won 31-10 behind 134 yards rushing and two touchdowns from fullback Lonnie Pryor.

The addition of the Huskies means that only one non-conference game remains at-large for FSU in 2018. Florida State already has dates set in stone with Notre Dame for Nov. 10 in South Bend and rival Florida at home on Nov. 24.

This upcoming season will mark the 10th straight that the Seminoles have played at least one FCS opponent. One is not currently on the slate for 2018. FSU’s crossover opponent from the ACC Coastal, aside from rival Miami, for 2018 will be Virginia Tech in Tallahassee.
