A bad Saturday night for Florida State on the diamond has gotten a little worse.

Following Saturday’s 5-2 11-inning loss to North Carolina in which the Seminoles were up 2-0 in the ninth inning and one out away from a combined no-hitter, head coach Mike Martin announced that shortstop Taylor Walls would be suspended indefinitely.

According to Martin, Walls was suspended for disciplinary reasons under “the rules of the university”. A spokesperson for the program confirmed to The Daily Nole that Walls remained with the team.

Walls made the start for the Seminoles in Saturday’s loss, but was pulled after one inning. Replacements Matt Henderson and Tyler Daughtry each went on to make a pair of critical errors at the position on a night where FSU committed six as a team.

Walls entered the week leading the ACC and ranking fifth nationally with 33 runs scored. Walls was a first-team All-American, according to Baseball America last season and went on to play for Team USA in the offseason.

This season however, was not turning out as well. Entering Saturday night, Walls was hitting .232 with three home runs and 20 RBIs. FSU will wrap up the 3-game series against the Tar Heels on Sunday.
