Going back to last season’s Super Regional, Florida State has now gone 31 straight innings without a run in Gainesville. After both starting pitchers tossed zeros for the first six innings on Tuesday night, Florida broke through with a run in the seventh in a 1-0 victory.

The win for Florida marked its 13th in 16 games against the Seminoles. The lone run of the game came on a check swing from Mark Kolozsvary that landed for an RBI single, scoring Jonathan India.

The Good: Starting pitching was something to see for both teams on Tuesday night. FSU’s Andrew Karp set a new career-high with 11 strikeouts in seven innings without walking a batter. Florida starter Nate Brown didn’t last as long, but allowed just three hits in five shutout innings.

The Bad: Florida State’s inconsistency on offense continued on Tuesday as the Seminoles were shut out for a second time this season. FSU managed just four hits. It was 1-hit already twice earlier this season. FSU went without a base runner over the final three innings.

The Ugly: Karp’s outstanding effort on Tuesday lowered his ERA to 2.10 in four starts and he still doesn’t have a win to show for it. In fact, now he has a loss. This is the second time this season where Karp was nothing short of phenomenal and the Seminoles failed to get the victory.

Studs of the Game: The starting pitchers get the nod in this one, but Florida reliever Andrew Baker also deserves a mention. Baker struck out four in 2 2/3 innings of work, retiring all eight batters he faced. India had two of Florida’s six hits and the game’s only run.

Duds of the Game: This honor could go to just about anyone in the FSU lineup. Dylan Busby and Tyler Daughtry both went hitless and both struck out twice. Busby was also picked off of first. For Florida, J.J. Schwarz and Keenan Bell went a combined 0-for-7 with three strikeouts each.
