FSU Hoops Climbs Back Into the Polls

For the second time this season, Florida State has a ranked men’s basketball team.

After debuting at No. 25 prior to Thanksgiving, the Seminoles’ first venture into the top 25 was short-lived as they would fall out following a Turkey Day loss to Temple in Brooklyn. Since then, FSU has won six straight to improve to 10-1 and following Sunday’s 83-78 win over No. 21 Florida, it moved back into the AP Poll at No. 23 on Monday.

The No. 23 national ranking is the highest for Florida State since the end of the 2011-12 season when it finished ranked 10th in the AP Poll. The USA Today Coaches Poll had FSU tied for 23rd with Cincinnati.

FSU’s stay in the polls should last a little longer this time. The Seminoles play just one game this week and that will come on Saturday against Manhattan in the Orange Bowl Classic in Sunrise. The Jaspers are just 3-7 this season.
