FSU Hoops Picked to Finish Eighth in ACC

After missing the NCAA Tournament in four straight seasons, Florida State was picked to finish eighth in the ACC during the conference’s media days on Wednesday.

FSU received 705 total points. That’s 11 less than Notre Dame, who was picked seventh, but 55 more than rival Miami, who was picked ninth. Duke was picked to win the ACC, receiving 85 of 91 possible first-place votes. The other six went to North Carolina, who was picked to finish second.

Florida State guard Dwayne Bacon was named the ACC’s preseason second team. Bacon led the Seminoles last season, averaging 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Bacon considered jumping to the NBA before ultimately deciding to return for a sophomore season.

FSU forward Jonathan Isaac received two votes as preseason ACC Rookie of the Year. Dennis Smith Jr. of North Carolina State was picked to win the award.

FSU plays a pair of exhibitions before opening the season against Charleston Southern on Nov. 12.
