Florida State isn’t currently considered the leader for either of the two, but FSU remains in the mix for a pair of 5-star prospects for 2017.

On Monday, 5-star athlete JaCoby Stevens (Oakland High School) narrowed his selection down to seven schools with the Seminoles being among them. The 6-2, 200-pound star from Murfreesboro, Tennessee also listed Auburn, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and the hometown Tennessee Volunteers among the schools he’s considering.

Another 5-star Tennessee prospect, wide receiver Tee Higgins (Oak Ridge High School), released his top 5 on Tuesday. Higgins had FSU at No. 4 ahead of Ole Miss, but behind Tennessee, Clemson and Ohio State.

It’s not clear whether the numbers have any significance as to which way Higgins is leaning. When Higgins released his top 10 on May 15, he listed FSU third behind Michigan and Ohio State. The Wolverines, who were formerly listed by Higgins as No. 1, did not make the cut into his top 5.

Florida State currently has the No. 14 national recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Seminoles have landed one receiver already in D.J. Matthews and one safety in Cyrus Fagan. Those are both positions Stevens could play at the next level.
