Florida State senior third baseman John Sansone was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday after batting .500 with 10 RBIs in five games.

Sansone had a pair of doubles and collected three RBIs in each of FSU’s two wins over Louisville over the weekend. That followed a midweek series against Texas Tech in which Sansone was 4-for-8 at the plate with a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

During the week, Sansone was 10-for-20 at the plate and leads the Seminoles with a .392 batting average for the season. Sansone also leads the team in hits, RBIs and total bases.

After hitting near the bottom of the order for much of his career, Sansone has emerged as one of the best players in the ACC this season. Sansone is among the conference’s leaders in hits, batting average, runs scored, RBIs and doubles.

Virginia’s Connor Jones and North Carolina’s Zac Gallen were named ACC Co-Pitchers of the Week.

Sansone and the Seminoles will be home against rival Florida on Tuesday before visiting Wake Forest over the weekend.
