The Daily Nole — March 9, 2018: Ward to Return to FSU as Ambassador

Lead Story

One of the greatest ever to wear garnet and gold will return to the Florida State program. According to multiple reports, Charlie Ward will join FSU as an ambassador for the program.

Ward was a 2-year starter for the Seminoles at quarterback and led the team to their first national championship in 1993. Ward was also the Heisman Trophy winner that season.

A 2-sport star, Ward played guard for the FSU basketball team, leading the team to the Elite Eight in 1993 before going on to spend more than a decade in the NBA. The contract and job description for his ambassador position are currently being worked out.

Between the Lines

FSU softball defeated Pennsylvania on Thursday, 12-0.

On the Agenda

FSU track and field will begin the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. Both the FSU men’s and women’s tennis teams will take on Miami at Lake Nona. FSU baseball opens a 3-game series at Wake Forest at 6 p.m. EST in a contest that airs on ACC Network Extra.

Virginia faces Clemson and Duke takes on North Carolina in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday.

FSU baseball defeated Wake Forest on Friday night, 7-3.
