Florida State redshirt junior Alec Eberle was among 63 centers named to the Rimington Trophy’s spring watch list on Monday.

Though he struggled at times last year, Eberle was one of only two FSU offensive linemen to start all 13 games. Eberle emerged late in the 2015 season, starting the final six games.

The Rimington Trophy is an annual award given to the nation’s top center. It is named after former Nebraska center Dave Rimington and has been in existence since 2000.

The lone Florida State player to win the award was Bryan Stork, who took home the hardware during the Seminoles’ 2013 national championship season. Last year’s winner was Ohio State’s Pat Elflein.

For Eberle, winning the award may be an uphill battle. Eberle missed the entire spring for the Seminoles to a hip injury, which required surgery. He is thought to be in a position battle with redshirt freshmen Baveon Johnson and Andrew Boselli.
