Happy hump day, Florida State fans. We’ll do our best to get you through the day and eventually to the weekend. The news and notes section of this post will be updated throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State’s softball team is riding high and the ACC seems to notice. This week, FSU players were given awards for both ACC Player of the Week and ACC Pitcher of the Week.

The Player of the Week honors in the conference went to third baseman Jessica Warren. In six games last week, Warren went 11-for-17 with six extra base hits, including three triples and a pair of home runs. Warren also drove in 11 runs and scored nine more.

Jessica Burroughs was named ACC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season after picking up three victories in a week where the Seminoles pitched four shutouts. In wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Notre Dame, Burroughs tossed complete-game shutouts.

For the season, FSU is 28-1-1, which is the best 30-game start in program history. FSU will play at UCF on Wednesday.

Between the Lines

FSU men’s golf finished 10th at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. FSU baseball rallied from seven runs down to beat Jacksonville on Tuesday night, 10-9.

On the Agenda

In addition to softball, the FSU swimming and diving team will be in Indianapolis for the NCAA Championships.
