The Daily Nole — Jan. 29, 2017: FSU Player’s House Burns Down

It’s Sunday, Florida State fans. There are a couple events going on for FSU athletics. We’ll keep you up on the latest by updating the news and notes section throughout the day.

Lead Story

Florida State sophomore offensive lineman Ethan Frith and his family are looking for help. On Friday morning, his family’s Mississippi home burnt down.

According to a GoFundMe set up for the family, Frith lived there when he was home from school with his mother, Allyson, and younger brother, Everett. Everett Frith is currently a high school senior.

So far, the GoFundMe has raised more than $4,300 with a goal of $5,000. Other current and former FSU players have advocated helping the family.

Between the Lines

The FSU women’s team was blanked 4-0 by Ohio State in the ITA Kickoff on Saturday. The men’s team fell to Mississippi State, 4-3. Both the FSU men and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Georgia Tech on Saturday. FSU’s men’s basketball team dropped its second straight game at Syracuse, 82-72.

On the Agenda

Both the FSU men’s and women’s tennis teams will be in action in the ITA Kickoff. The men will face either Iowa or Texas Tech. The women will take on either Harvard or Alabama.

News and Notes

FSU fullback Freddie Stevenson finished with 19 total yards on three touches in the Senior Bowl. Marquez White, a cornerback, also played in the game, finishing with two tackles.

3-star defensive tackle Neil Farrell has limited his choices to FSU, LSU and USC.

B.J. Thompson, a 3-star athlet for 2017, has listed his top 5 as FSU, Washington State, Utah, Texas and Baylor.

Curtis Dunlap, a 4-star guard for 2018, has narrowed his choices of schools to Florida and Florida State.
