The Daily Nole — Oct. 18, 2016: Baseball Impresses in Exhibition Game

It was a quiet Monday for Florida State athletics, but there were still a few stories to take note of.

Lead Story

While it was a simple exhibition game against the Ontario Blue Jays, the FSU baseball team flashed some of tits potential in a 13-6 victory on Monday afternoon. The Blue Jays struck first with a run in the second inning, but the Seminoles would respond quickly with five runs of their own shortly after. From then on, the FSU bats kept hammering away, helping the Seminoles cruise to the win.

Three different Seminoles smacked home runs, including Jared Herron, Quincy Nieporte, and Bryan Bussey. Eight different Seminoles saw action on the mound, with six of them not giving up a single hit.

There were no other FSU events on Monday.

News and Notes

Dalvin Cook is 170 rushing yards away from passing Greg Allen for second all-time in FSU career rushing yards.

Clemson running back Wayne Gallman is being held out of practice for the week as he goes through concussion protocol. Gallman is the starter for the Tigers who was injured early in the N.C. State game. He has 562 total yards and five touchdowns through seven games.

Sports Illustrated released its midseason All-America team on Tuesday afternoon. Dalvin Cook was selected to the first team and DeMarcus Walker to the second.
