FSU Recruiting: Noles Add FSU 5-Star Legacy for 2017 Class

Three days, three defensive backs. That’s what the case has been for Florida State recently on the recruiting trail.

After receiving the commitment of 2018 cornerback Isaiah Bolden on Tuesday and 2017 safety Daniel Wright on Wednesday, the Seminoles added Hollywood, Florida cornerback Stanford Samuels on Thursday.

Samuels, a Flanagan High School star, is a 4-star prospect who is currently ranked third among cornerbacks and 23rd overall, according to the 247Sports National Composite.

Samuels is the 10th member of Florida State’s 2017 class and third defensive back, joining Wright and Daytona Beach safety Cyrus Fagan. Samuels is also the second legacy to commit to FSU for 2017, joining 3-star linebacker Bradley Jennings Jr.

Samuels is the son of former starting FSU cornerback Stanford Samuels. Samuels the father played for FSU from 1998-2003 and was best known for his game-sealing interception in the end zone to seal a 2002 victory at Georgia Tech and his bone-jarring hit on Roscoe Parrish in the 2003 contest against Miami.

FSU entered the day ranked 10th in the team rankings, according to the 247Sports, but moves up to sixth with the addition of the South Florida cornerback. Samuels is currently the only 5-star committed to the Seminoles for 2017.
