FSU Football: Top Five Players to Wear No. 91

Until recently, the No. 91 didn’t hold much prestige at Florida State, but that’s changed in recent years.

Incoming defensive tackle Robert Cooper looks to add his name to a list of solid players to wear the number in recent years. On Wednesday, Cooper announced that he would don the number as a freshman for the 2018 season.

To help occupy your mind during the offseason, we look at the five greatest FSU players to have worn the number. The list examines players during the time they wore the number:

5. Emmanuel Dunbar (2004-08)
Defensive Tackle
Stats:
18 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack
Emmanuel Dunbar was never able to break into the starting lineup for Florida State, spending the majority of his career as a reserve. Perhaps his best performance came as a freshman at Duke when he recorded four tackles and one for loss in a 55-24 victory in 2005. Dunbar appeared in just 13 career games.

4. Deondri Clark (1988-92)
Defensive Lineman
Stats:
42 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble
Deondri Clark was tried at a number of positions for Florida State, but never really became a mainstay in the lineup. Clark however, did managed to contribute in small doses and did a decent job in limited opportunities. Clark finished with 42 career tackles and two sacks in 20 career games.

3. Jeff Womble (1999-2003)
Defensive Tackle
Stats:
163 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception
A Freshman All-American in 2000, Jeff Womble started 38 games for FSU and was a significant part of three ACC title teams for the Seminoles. Womble’s redshirt freshman year of 2000 was arguably his best, but Womble also had a strong showing in 2002 when he recorded a career-high 11 tackles for loss. Womble appeared in 49 career games.

2. Derrick Nnadi (2014-17)
Defensive Tackle
Stats:
165 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries
A 4-year contributor and 3-year starter, Derrick Nnadi was a load for the Seminoles in the middle of the defensive line. In each of his final two seasons, Nnadi was named a third-team All-ACC performer. During his career, Nnadi helped FSU reach three New Year’s Six bowls and finish ranked in the top 10 twice. Nnadi appeared in 48 games and made 37 career starts.

1. Cornellius “Tank” Carradine (2011-12)
Defensive End
Stats:
188 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery
A junior college transfer from Cincinnati, Cornellius “Tank” Carradine spent just two seasons in Tallahassee, but was a force on the edge in that short period of time. Despite playing a position shared with Brandon Jenkins and Bjoern Werner, Carradine recorded 16.5 sacks over two seasons. Jenkins was injured in the 2012 opener, but Carradine saw to it that the drop-off would be minimal to non-existent. Carradine recorded 11 sacks and 13 tackles for loss en route to being named a first-team All-ACC selection and an honorable mention All-American.
