For the first time in 16 tries against Florida State on Tuesday night, Stetson was victorious. In front of their home crowd in DeLand, Stetson took advantage of multiple FSU miscues en route to a 5-3 victory.

The loss for the Seminoles snaps a 5-game winning streak and serves as the first midweek loss to an opponent other than Florida. FSU returns home to face rival Miami for three games, beginning on Friday.

The Good: FSU freshman Austin Pollock had a nice night in his first midweek start, although he took the loss. Pollock was able to tie a career-high with six innings pitched, allowing four runs, but just one earned on eight hits. Pollock struck out five without walking a batter. Joey Gonzalez, the Stetson starter, also had a very good night, going seven innings and allowing three runs to collect the win.

The Bad: After averaging 12.5 runs in the previous four games coming in, FSU was unable to figure out Stetson starter Joey Gonzalez for most of the night. The three runs is the fewest for the Seminoles since a 7-1 loss to Duke on April 13.

The Ugly: FSU gave away outs on Tuesday night and Stetson took advantage. The Seminoles committed five errors in the field, leading to three unearned runs for the Hatters, which was the difference in the game. It marks the second time in four games that FSU finished a contest with five errors.

Studs of the Game: Although FSU was able to tag him for a couple of runs late, Stetson starter Joey Gonzalez had a quality start against the Seminoles and set the tone for the evening. Andrew Pollock also did a decent job on the mound for the Seminoles. At the plate for Stetson, Baylen Sparks was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs. Jacob Koos plated a pair for the Hatters. FSU’s Mike Salvatore was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Duds of the Game: FSU reliever Clayton Kwiatkowski had a rough night. Kwiatkowski allowed a run in just 1/3 of an inning pitched and walked three of the four batters he faced. For Stetson, catcher Austin Hale was 0-for-4 at the plate.
