Florida State has followed up a 5-game losing streak with a 5-game winning streak. The Seminoles completed their first ACC sweep of the season on Sunday with a 6-1 road victory at Boston College.

Andrew Karp was solid for FSU on the mound in the victory as the Seminoles improved to 29-12 for the year and 11-9 in ACC play. Up next for FSU is a road contest with Stetson on Tuesday.

The Good: The FSU pitching staff finally had a solid showing from start to finish. Andrew Karp, the redshirt junior starter, went six strong innings before Jonah Scolaro shut the door with three scoreless innings of relief. After a rough defensive series, both the Seminoles and Eagles played error-free baseball.

The Bad: Boston College starter Brian Rapp was perfect through three innings and solid through four, but one bad inning turned things in the other direction for the senior right-hander. The Seminoles scored four innings in the fifth inning and never looked back.

The Ugly: While the final score might indicate an easy victory for Florida State, the story for Boston College was missed opportunities. The Eagles outhit the Seminoles, 8-5, but left 12 men on base to FSU’s five. The game seemed to change after Boston College left them loaded in the fourth, only to watch Florida State score four runs in the fifth.

Studs of the Game: In his first weekend start of the season, FSU pitcher Andrew Karp allowed just one run on six hits and three walks in six innings of work while striking out seven. Nick Derr was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. For Boston College, Jake Palomaki was 3-for-5 with the Eagles’ only run. Second baseman Brian Dempsey was 2-for-2 with Boston College’s only RBI.

Duds of the Game: After a solid first two games, FSU outfielder Jackson Lueck was 0-for-4 on Sunday with a pair of strikeouts. Jake Goodreau and Anthony Maselli were each 0-for-4 for Boston College with five combined strikeouts.
