For the second straight day, Georgia Tech scored two runs. That resulted in a blowout loss on Friday night, but on Saturday afternoon, it was enough to top Florida State, 2-1.

Connor Thomas went the distance to earn the win for the Yellow Jackets while Conor Grady took the loss for the Seminoles. The teams will play the rubber game on Sunday.

The Good: The starting pitcher for both teams was superb on Saturday. Connor Thomas allowed just a run on five hits while walking one and striking out nine. Drew Parrish worked around eight hits to allow just one run in six innings of work for the Seminoles.

The Bad: One day after scoring 10 runs, the offense was nowhere to be found for the Seminoles. FSU managed just five hits. Rhett Aplin’s RBI triple was the only one for extra bases.

The Ugly: With the loss, Florida State fell to 8-6 in ACC play. In three of those six losses, the Seminoles have scored just a single run.

Studs of the Game: Parrish deserves credit for a quality start, but Connor Thomas stole the show on Saturday for Georgia Tech. At the dish, Oscar Serratos was 3-for-3 for the Yellow Jackets with a run scored and an RBI. Austin Wilhite was 2-for-4 with a run scored in the win. Mike Salvatore and Rhett Aplin combined for all five FSU hits. Salvatore had three hits and a run scored. Aplin was 2-for-4 with the only RBI for the Seminoles.

Duds of the Game: Outside of Aplin and Salvatore, this distinction could belong to just about anyone in the FSU order. Jackson Lueck, Cal Raleigh and Drew Mendoza were all 0-for-4. Tristin English was 0-for-4 for Georgia Tech with a pair of strikeouts.
