Another weekend at Dick Howser Stadium and another sweep. Florida State took care of business in the final game of a 3-game set against Troy on Sunday with a 9-4 victory.

The Seminoles are off to a 7-0 start for the first time in five years. The contest was delayed by more than an hour. FSU will leave Tallahassee for the first time this season on Tuesday as it travels to take on Jacksonville.

The Good: Starting pitching continued to be a strength for the Seminoles on Sunday as Austin Pollock shined in his first career start, allowing just one earned run on five hits in six innings. The nine runs for the FSU offense was the most of the series and four of the 10 hits went for extra bases. FSU also hit uncharacteristically well with runners in scoring position, going 5-for-11.

The Bad: Troy finished with as many hits as FSU with 10, but the Trojans couldn’t find a way to get them home. Troy left 10 men on base, compared to FSU’s seven and went just 2-for-13 at the plate with runners in scoring position.

The Ugly: The effort in the field may have been the worst for FSU all season as it committed three errors. The Seminoles committed two of those errors and allowed a double in the first inning. Somehow, Troy was not able to manage a run in that frame.

Studs of the Game: For his first outing, Pollock definitely deserves some recognition for the Seminoles. At the plate, J.C. Flowers was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored in the victory. Troy’s Matt Sanders was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Drew Frederic also had a nice day for the Trojans, going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Duds of the Game: Troy starting pitcher Rush Hixon allowed five runs in just two innings of work to take the loss. At the plate for the Trojans, the left field combination of Dylan Crutcher and Jackson Cofer combined to go 0-for-5 with three strikeouts. Rhett Aplin had an 0-for-5 day for the Seminoles.
