With recruiting, just about every player is a crap shoot. For Florida State, there are some highly-rated prospects that just didn’t pan out for a multitude of reasons.

For many FSU fans, they are quickly forgotten, but sometimes, they end up going on to find success at another school. Hoping to do that this year are Florida Atlantic’s De’Andre Johnson and Kain Daub as well as others who contributed for the Seminoles in the past like guard Wilson Bell, who is now at Auburn.

In this next segment, we look at five transfer from the Jimbo Fisher era who went on to find success with other FBS schools:

Jacob Coker, QB
Stuck as a backup to a younger Jameis Winston, Jacob Coker left Florida State following the 2013 national championship season to return home to Alabama. After being in the middle of a quarterback competition early in the year, Coker was able to separate himself from the competition. Coker went on to complete near 67 percent of his passes, pass for more than 3,100 yards and throw 21 touchdowns en route to leading Alabama to its fourth national championship in seven years.

Darious Cummings, DT
After spending two years at Florida State and then going the junior college route, Darious Cummings was a productive player for rival Florida over the final two years of his career. Cummings played in 22 games, made 10 starts and recorded 45 total tackles, eight for loss, three sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.

Ukeme Eligwe, LB
A productive reserve linebacker during his time at Florida State, Ukeme Eligwe was kicked off the team in 2014 for violating team rules. Eligwe ended up at Georgia Southern and as a senior in 2016, finished with 104 total tackles, 9.5 for loss and three fumbles — all team-highs. Eligwe went on to be selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Jeff Luc, LB
Jeff Luc, a former 5-star prospect, recorded just 23 total tackles in his two seasons at FSU before winding up at Cincinnati. After a productive junior year in 2013, Luc led the Bearcats with 134 total tackles, 10 for loss, 6.5 sacks and six forced fumbles as a senior in 2014. Luc would go on to earn first-team All-AAC honors.

Clint Trickett, QB
After being forced to try to beat out two future first round picks in E.J. Manuel and Jameis Winston at FSU, Clint Trickett spent his final two seasons at West Virginia. In those two seasons, Trickett played in 19 total games, passing for nearly 4,900 yards and 25 touchdowns. As a senior in 2014, Trickett passed for nearly 3,300 yards and led the Big 12 in completion percentage.
