FSU Hoops: Numbers for Newcomers

Florida State’s five newest hoops members have been given jersey numbers, according to an update from the school’s official athletic site.

RaiQuan Gray, a 6-8 forward, will take over Jonathan Isaac’s No. 1. Isaac led the Seminoles in rebounding during his only season at FSU en route to being selected sixth overall by the Orlando Magic in June’s NBA Draft. Isaac was the highest selected Florida State player in 47 years.

Center Ikey Obiagu will wear No. 12, which was worn by legends Charlie Ward and Al Thornton. The last scholarship player to wear No. 12 was transfer Jeff Peterson during FSU’s ACC title season of 2011-12.

Anthony Polite, a 6-6 combo guard, will wear jersey No. 13. That number was worn by the great Dave Cowens.

M.J. Walker, the top incoming player for Florida State, will wear No. 23. That was worn by Jarquez Smith last season. It’s also the number that was worn by former All-ACC performer Toney Douglas.

The final newcomer to get a number is versatile forward Wyatt Wilkes, who will wear No. 31. One notable Seminole to wear that number is Chris Singleton.
