Florida State senior defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi and redshirt junior center Alec Eberle each received some preseason recognition on Thursday morning.

Both were named to the Outland Trophy preseason watch list. The award is annually presented to the nation’s top interior lineman by the Football Writers Association of America.

Nnadi was a force for the Seminoles last season, finishing with 49 total tackles, including 10.5 for loss and six sacks. Nnadi got better as the season went on and was previously named to the Bednarik Award and Nagurski Trophy watch lists.

Eberle made the list after starting 19 straight games at center for Florida State. Eberle was previously named to the Rimington Trophy watch list as the nation’s best center, but is expected to see some internal competition this fall.

The Outland Trophy named after John Outland has been given every year since 1946. Nnadi and Eberle each hope to become the first FSU player to win the honor.
