Florida State has hit the scholarship limit of 85.

According to reports from ACC Kickoff, head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that cornerback Marcus Lewis would be transferring. Lewis, a junior, had offseason hip surgery after playing eight games last season.

After starting the offseason with 91 scholarship players, the Seminoles have now had six depart. The other five include offensive linemen Ryan Hofeld and Wilson Bell, linebacker Sh’Mar Kilby-Lane, tight end Jeremy Kerr and defensive end Keith Bryant.

Lewis finished the 2016 season with 21 tackles, including one for loss and an interception in the opener against Ole Miss. Lewis’ late-season injury however, allowed for younger players like Kyle Meyers, Carlos Becker and Levonta Taylor to surpass him on the depth chart.

Lewis will have to sit out a year, but will have two years of eligibility remaining when he finds a new school.
