Florida State’s athletic department announced Thursday that former FSU All-American cornerback Terrell Buckley was listed on the 2018 ballot for the induction into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Buckley was a 3-year contributor at both punt returner and cornerback, playing from 1989-91 before leaving for the NFL Draft. His 1991 season was one for the record books, as he grabbed a school-record 12 interceptions on his way to a Jim Thorpe Award and consensus All-American selection. He even set the record for interception return yardage in a career with 501 yards. His 21 career interceptions is also a school-record.

Buckley chose to leave for the NFL draft after his junior season. He was drafted fifth overall by the Green Bay Packers, and would spend the next 14 years garnering a reputation as one of the premier ball-hawks in the league. He would also play for the Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and New York Giants.

Hall of Fame selections are voted on by the National Football Foundation and current Hall of Fame members. Buckley was also on the ballot last year. The 2018 class announcement will be on Jan. 8, 2018 in Atlanta.
