For the second time in as many weeks and an ACC record-tying fifth time this season, Florida State sophomore pitcher Tyler Holton’s dominance was recognized.

Holton was named ACC Pitcher of the Week for his stellar effort in the Seminoles’ 8-2 victory on Friday night. Against a No. 2 Louisville team that was among the nation’s leaders in a slew of statistical offensive categories, Holton yielded just a run on five hits while striking out 11 and walking three in eight innings of work.

With the outstanding effort, Holton improved to 8-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.55. Holton also eclipsed the 100-strikeout total for the season.

Holton’s fifth ACC Pitcher of the Week honor ties him with N.C. State’s Mike Rogers, who was also acknowledged five times in 2004, for the most in a single season in conference history. Holton and the Seminoles will open the ACC Tournament on Wednesday against Notre Dame.
