Florida State’s first game against Wake Forest on Friday was suspended due to inclement weather.

The game was able to get through 4 1/3 innings, with the Demon Deacons ahead 4-2 after home runs in consecutive innings. Both teams surrendered a combined one hit in six frames up until the fourth inning. That was when Wake Forest power hitter Gavin Sheets knocked his 18th home run of the year and brought in two runs. The Demon Deacons added one more in the inning to make it 3-0.

Florida State answered in its next at-bat with a 2-run shot from Tyler Holton. It was 3-2 heading into the fifth inning.

Wake Forest then added another run with a homer from Stuart Fairchild. With the score at 4-2, FSU announced that a severe thunderstorm was entering the area. The tarp was put on the field and the teams attempted to wait out the rain. After an hour, it became clear that no baseball would be played for the remainder of the night.

The game will resume on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. EST. The second game of the series will be at 6 p.m. on the same day. Matt Henderson will be at the plate for Florida State when play resumes.
